elementor-clearfix\"><p>Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC) est\u00e1 ampliando su enfoque de gesti\u00f3n de residuos con un biodigestor a medida, uno de los m\u00e1s grandes en escala y capacidad comercial. El biodigestor Power Knot LFC-3000, ubicado en la Unidad de Comisariato Central de EKFC, permite el procesamiento in situ de residuos org\u00e1nicos, trat\u00e1ndolos en origen en lugar de desviarlos al vertedero.<\/p>\n<p>Un biodigestor funciona mediante digesti\u00f3n aer\u00f3bica, utilizando ox\u00edgeno, calor y microorganismos para descomponer los residuos org\u00e1nicos. Este proceso natural produce aguas grises que pueden reutilizarse para uso no potable. A diferencia de los sistemas mec\u00e1nicos que se degradan con el tiempo, el biodigestor se vuelve m\u00e1s eficiente a medida que su cultivo microbiano madura y se adapta a una mayor variedad de materias primas.<\/p>\n<p>Shahreyar Nawabi, director ejecutivo de Emirates Flight Catering, afirm\u00f3: <em>\u201cEn EKFC, nos centramos en c\u00f3mo podemos marcar la diferencia: en c\u00f3mo gestionamos los residuos de forma responsable, desvi\u00e1ndolos del vertedero y encontrando maneras de darles un uso productivo. La puesta en marcha de un biodigestor de esta envergadura supone un hito operativo importante para nosotros, ya que aceleramos los esfuerzos de EKFC para evitar el desv\u00edo de residuos. La combinaci\u00f3n de innovaci\u00f3n y compromiso operativo seguir\u00e1 impulsando nuestro progreso en materia de sostenibilidad\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Desde su puesta en marcha en diciembre de 2025, la capacidad ha aumentado de forma constante, y el sistema procesa ahora un promedio de hasta 3,5 toneladas de residuos al d\u00eda. Las proyecciones actuales para el biodigestor de EKFC estiman que la capacidad aumentar\u00e1 a unas 6 toneladas de residuos alimentarios al d\u00eda. *<\/p>\n<p>Utilizando los factores de conversi\u00f3n de GEI del Departamento de Medio Ambiente, Alimentaci\u00f3n y Asuntos Rurales del Reino Unido (DEFRA), EKFC estima que desviar una tonelada de residuos alimentarios del vertedero evita aproximadamente 0,7 tCO\u2082e por tonelada, principalmente al evitar las emisiones de metano derivadas de la descomposici\u00f3n en el vertedero. A plena capacidad y en su madurez biol\u00f3gica, el biodigestor podr\u00eda evitar m\u00e1s de 2.000 toneladas de CO\u2082e al a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p>El biodigestor forma parte de los esfuerzos m\u00e1s amplios de EKFC para integrar la sostenibilidad en sus operaciones diarias. EKFC est\u00e1 impulsando inversiones estrat\u00e9gicas en energ\u00eda y flota, incluyendo la incorporaci\u00f3n de paneles solares que generaron 4.000 MWh el a\u00f1o pasado, evitando 1.600 toneladas de CO\u2082e. Se est\u00e1n introduciendo veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos en todas las operaciones, y se espera que para mediados de 2026 se ponga a prueba un concepto de excavadora el\u00e9ctrica de carga alta, la primera en la regi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>En cuanto a residuos y circularidad, EKFC proces\u00f3 cerca de 75.000 kg de residuos alimentarios a trav\u00e9s de su primer biodigestor LFC-50 el a\u00f1o pasado y elimin\u00f3 45.000 kg de pl\u00e1stico al a\u00f1o mediante cambios en los envases. Tambi\u00e9n ha desarrollado 47 recetas con recortes de producci\u00f3n para reutilizar posibles residuos, mientras que la lechuga sin pesticidas de Bustanica se utiliz\u00f3 para 28.000 ensaladas Emirates diarias el a\u00f1o pasado. La automatizaci\u00f3n basada en IA y la tecnolog\u00eda de c\u00e1maras inteligentes contribuyen a\u00fan m\u00e1s a la calidad de la producci\u00f3n y a la reducci\u00f3n de
