Esto es clave, porque el avi\u00f3n, a lo largo del tiempo, va perdiendo eficiencia y su rendimiento real cambia. El computador del avi\u00f3n hace todos los c\u00e1lculos pensando en su modelo de rendimiento de f\u00e1brica, pero el APM permite hacer ajustes tanto en la planificaci\u00f3n como en la ejecuci\u00f3n del vuelo, para que todas las estimaciones y decisiones se tomen de manera m\u00e1s precisa, lo que reduce el consumo de combustible y por lo tanto las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero. Este monitoreo del rendimiento permite mejorar e identificar tareas de mantenimiento que mejoran la eficiencia del avi\u00f3n, como el lavado de motores o del fuselaje, o el alineamiento de distintas superficies de control.<\/p>\n<p>Otra funci\u00f3n que genera un impacto importante en la eficiencia es el <em>Idle Factor<\/em>, que aplica exclusivamente a la flota Airbus, y permite ajustar el punto \u00f3ptimo para iniciar el descenso del avi\u00f3n. El software compara el empuje actual con el de f\u00e1brica, y ajusta los c\u00e1lculos del computador del avi\u00f3n para que esa fase se realice con la menor resistencia aerodin\u00e1mica y el m\u00ednimo uso de motores. Este ajuste permite que el descenso se haga de forma m\u00e1s suave y eficiente, usando menos motor y combustible.<\/p>\n<p>La implementaci\u00f3n de este sistema permite a LATAM un ahorro estimado de US$2,5 millones en combustible al a\u00f1o, equivalente a evitar la emisi\u00f3n de aproximadamente 7.900 toneladas de CO2 anuales.
