El logro marca el primer vuelo de un avi\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrico con un piloto a bordo en la NASA Langley.<\/p>\n<p>Electra y la NASA est\u00e1n trabajando juntas en la investigaci\u00f3n, las demostraciones y el intercambio de informaci\u00f3n sobre movilidad a\u00e9rea avanzada (AAM) en virtud de un acuerdo de la Ley Espacial de la NASA. En un esfuerzo independiente, Electra est\u00e1 trabajando en el marco de un proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n de innovaci\u00f3n para peque\u00f1as empresas (SBIR) de la NASA sobre la investigaci\u00f3n de aeronaves solares, el\u00e9ctricas, de gran altitud y larga duraci\u00f3n, denominadas \u201cEstaci\u00f3n de Plataforma de Gran Altitud\u201d o HAPS. Electra tambi\u00e9n ha contribuido a un estudio de la NASA sobre la conexi\u00f3n de comunidades a la red nacional de transporte a trav\u00e9s de la movilidad a\u00e9rea regional (RAM) utilizando aeropuertos infrautilizados.<\/p>\n<p>La demostraci\u00f3n de vuelo para la comunidad de investigaci\u00f3n de la NASA Langley mostr\u00f3 el uso de la propulsi\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica distribuida (DEP) con tecnolog\u00eda de sustentaci\u00f3n por soplado de la aeronave eSTOL, que es capaz de despegar y aterrizar a menos de 150 pies. La demostraci\u00f3n destac\u00f3 las capacidades h\u00edbridas el\u00e9ctricas de la aeronave para un potencial de mayor alcance y el vuelo el\u00e9ctrico a bater\u00eda para operaciones silenciosas y amigables con la comunidad. Ese mismo d\u00eda, la aeronave complet\u00f3 el vuelo de 120 millas a trav\u00e9s del pa\u00eds desde las instalaciones de Electra en Manassas, Virginia, hasta la NASA en Hampton, Virginia, utilizando el sistema de propulsi\u00f3n h\u00edbrido.<\/p>\n<p>Electra est\u00e1 desarrollando un avi\u00f3n de producci\u00f3n eSTOL de 9 pasajeros dise\u00f1ado para reemplazar los viajes en veh\u00edculos de corta y media distancia de hasta 500 millas con viajes a\u00e9reos descarbonizados, silenciosos y asequibles.
