los oc\u00e9anos Copernicus Sentinel-6A, que ahora realizar\u00e1 su primer viaje. Su destino: Ottobrunn, cerca de M\u00fanich (Alemania), donde se someter\u00e1 durante los pr\u00f3ximos seis meses a una exhaustiva serie de pruebas en Industrieanlagen Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (IABG) para demostrar que est\u00e1 listo para ir al espacio.<\/p>\n<p>Copernicus Sentinel-6 llevar\u00e1 a cabo mediciones de alta precisi\u00f3n de la topograf\u00eda de la superficie oce\u00e1nica. El sat\u00e9lite medir\u00e1 su distancia hasta la superficie del oc\u00e9ano con un nivel de precisi\u00f3n de unos pocos cent\u00edmetros en una misi\u00f3n que puede prolongarse hasta siete a\u00f1os. Utilizar\u00e1 esta informaci\u00f3n para cartografiar la superficie marina y repetir\u00e1 este ciclo cada diez d\u00edas. El sat\u00e9lite documentar\u00e1 los cambios en la altura de la superficie de los oc\u00e9anos, registrar\u00e1 y analizar\u00e1 las variaciones del nivel del mar y observar\u00e1 las corrientes marinas. Los datos exactos sobre los cambios en la altitud de la superficie oce\u00e1nica proporcionan informaci\u00f3n sobre el nivel del mar en todo el mundo, la velocidad y la direcci\u00f3n de las corrientes marinas, y la cantidad de calor que almacena el oc\u00e9ano. Estas mediciones son esenciales para crear modelos de los oc\u00e9anos y para predecir un aumento de su nivel.<\/p>\n<p>Los resultados permitir\u00e1n a los gobiernos y a las instituciones establecer programas eficaces de protecci\u00f3n para las regiones costeras. Los datos tendr\u00e1n un valor incalculable, no solo para los organismos de ayuda en caso de cat\u00e1strofes, sino tambi\u00e9n para las autoridades en materia de planificaci\u00f3n urbana, seguridad de los edificios o puesta en servicio de diques.<\/p>\n<p>El nivel global del mar est\u00e1 aumentando una media de 3,3 mil\u00edmetros al a\u00f1o como consecuencia del calentamiento global, lo que podr\u00eda acarrear graves consecuencias para los pa\u00edses que cuentan con zonas costeras densamente pobladas.<\/p>\n<p>Actualmente se est\u00e1n desarrollando dos sat\u00e9lites Sentinel-6 para el Programa Europeo Copernicus bajo la direcci\u00f3n industrial de Airbus destinados al medioambiente y a la seguridad. Aunque Sentinel-6 forma parte de la familia de misiones Copernicus de la Uni\u00f3n Europea, tambi\u00e9n cuenta para su ejecuci\u00f3n con la cooperaci\u00f3n internacional de la ESA, la NASA, la NOAA y Eumetsat.<\/p>\n<p>Cada sat\u00e9lite tiene un peso aproximado de 1,5 toneladas. Sentinel-6A ser\u00e1, a partir de noviembre de 2020, el primero de los dos sat\u00e9lites Sentinel-6 que continuar\u00e1 recopilando mediciones por sat\u00e9lite de la superficie de los oc\u00e9anos, una tarea que comenz\u00f3 en 1992.
