Am\u00e9rica Latina tiene el potencial de ser una regi\u00f3n l\u00edder en la producci\u00f3n de combustible de aviaci\u00f3n sostenible, pero requiere de una pol\u00edtica p\u00fablica clara y armonizada.<\/em><\/strong><\/h5><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-49e3994c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"49e3994c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\"><p>La descarbonizaci\u00f3n del transporte a\u00e9reo es un compromiso de las aerol\u00edneas de Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Caribe. Por ello, durante el ALTA AGM &amp; Airline Leaders Forum organizado por la Asociaci\u00f3n Latinoamericana y del Caribe de Transporte A\u00e9reo (ALTA) se desarroll\u00f3 un panel sobre la oportunidad de Am\u00e9rica Latina para ser un mercado competitivo para la producci\u00f3n y distribuci\u00f3n de SAF, combustible de aviaci\u00f3n sostenible, un componente clave para lograr la meta de cero emisiones para 2050.<\/p>\n<p>Louise Burke, Vicepresidente Global Aviation and Biofuels de ARGUS, fue la moderadora del panel donde participaron Erasmo Battistela, CEO de BSBIOS; Juan Jos\u00e9 Toha, Director Corporate and Sustainability LATAM Airlines; Manuel Macedo, Presidente de Honeywell Latin America y Thorsten Lange, EVP Renewable Aviation NESTE.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSer\u00e1 necesario que se junten proveedores de tecnolog\u00eda, los productores de combustible sostenible, los gobiernos con pol\u00edticas de incentivo y medidas macroecon\u00f3micas que permitan que toda la cadena de valor se beneficie\u201d<\/em>, recalc\u00f3 Manuel Macedo, presidente de Honeywell en la regi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Detall\u00f3 que instalar una planta que produzca y refine SAF puede requerir inversiones hasta por mil millones de d\u00f3lares y un tiempo de hasta cinco a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>Admiti\u00f3 que los precios del combustible SAF son un reto pues son m\u00e1s altos actualmente que el combustible f\u00f3sil, pero considera que, si no se hace nada, el costo para la industria a\u00e9rea (al no hacer nada), ser\u00e1 mayor por el impacto que tiene que seguir con el combustible f\u00f3sil tradicional,\u00a0 frente a los retos ambientales.<\/p>\n<p>BSBIOS es la compa\u00f1\u00eda brasilera que construye la planta Omega Green en Paraguay. Su CEO resalt\u00f3 que estar en Latinoam\u00e9rica haciendo un proyecto de SAF es un gran desaf\u00edo. <em>\u201cCreo que el gran potencial que tenemos es la materia prima. Nosotros somos grandes productores de la materia prima y ese es nuestro fuerte<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>LATAM utilizar\u00e1 5% de SAF producido en la regi\u00f3n<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Juan Jos\u00e9 Toha, director de Corporate Affairs and Sustainability de LATAM Airlines, detall\u00f3 que LATAM se ha comprometido a reducir sus emisiones para lograr ser carbono neutral en 2050 y reducir el 50% de sus emisiones para 2030. Agreg\u00f3 que requieren elevar los niveles de eficiencia. <em>\u201cHay un espacio para mejorar. Requerimos una pol\u00edtica de compensaci\u00f3n de carbono y el SAF\u201d<\/em>, dijo al se\u00f1alar que estos elementos se generen de forma virtuosa y \u00e1gil.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNosotros asumimos y declaramos nuestra voluntad de llegar al a\u00f1o 2030 utilizando un 5% de SAF producido en la regi\u00f3n. Creemos que es el rol que LATAM puede jugar, que es incentivar, dar una se\u00f1al clara, tanto para las pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas como para productores, en t\u00e9rminos de decir aqu\u00ed hay una compa\u00f1\u00eda que tiene la voluntad de avanzar en esta l\u00ednea y quiere hacer esto, pero requiere que exista la producci\u00f3n a nivel local para poder hacerlo\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Manuel Macedo de Honeywell Latinoam\u00e9rica resalt\u00f3 que 90% de los aviones operan con su tecnolog\u00eda. En todos estos a\u00f1os, especialmente en la industria aeroespacial han trabajado con todas estas empresas para crear m\u00e1s eficiencia. Agreg\u00f3 que han mejorado un 80% la eficiencia de los motores y en general.<\/p>\n<p>La empresa tambi\u00e9n es uno de los licenciatarios m\u00e1s importantes en las tecnolog\u00edas en combustibles, no solo en los nuevos como el SAF. Macedo resalt\u00f3 que el mundo libera 40 mil millones de toneladas de CO2, de los cuales solo el 2% provienen de la aviaci\u00f3n <em>\u201cTenemos que buscar combustibles que reduzcan las emisiones de CO2 y la utilizaci\u00f3n de SAF es una de las cuatro o cinco formas de hacerlo\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Thorsten Lange, VP de Aviaci\u00f3n Renovable de NESTE explic\u00f3 que comenzaron a producir SAF hace cuatro a\u00f1os sin tener el apoyo. Actualmente la empresa est\u00e1 construyendo dos refiner\u00edas m\u00e1s, una de ellas en Singapur. <em>\u201cEstoy hablando de un negocio global que puede generar mil millones de toneladas para el a\u00f1o que viene y otras 500 mil toneladas para finales de 2023\u201d<\/em>, recalc\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>Los gobiernos tienen un papel fundamental en la generaci\u00f3n de pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas adecuadas y ALTA ha venido recalcando que se trata de una agenda de Estado que promueve el desarrollo socioecon\u00f3mico de los pa\u00edses a trav\u00e9s del transporte a\u00e9reo. En t\u00e9rminos de SAF, ALTA se ha comprometido a trabajar con los gobiernos en esta agenda con foco en: atraer inversiones de largo plazo brindando seguridad jur\u00eddica, brindar incentivos para la producci\u00f3n\/consumo: de manera similar a los biocombustibles en el transporte terrestre, financiamiento de programas de producci\u00f3n de SAF: provisi\u00f3n de garant\u00edas, investigaci\u00f3n y desarrollo en la cadena de suministro de SAF y acceso a la infraestructura esencial para la competitividad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prensa
