(NYSE: LTM; IPSA: LTM), aerol\u00ednea l\u00edder en Am\u00e9rica Latina, anuncia hoy sus resultados financieros consolidados para el trimestre finalizado el 31 de diciembre de 2018. \u201cLATAM\u201d o \u201cla Compa\u00f1\u00eda\u201d se refiere a la entidad consolidada, incluyendo aerol\u00edneas de transporte de pasajeros y cargas en Am\u00e9rica Latina. Todos estos valores se presentan de acuerdo con las Normas Internacionales de Contabilidad (International Financial Reporting Standards \u2013 IFRS) en d\u00f3lares estadounidenses. La tasa de cambio promedio entre el Real y el D\u00f3lar en el trimestre fue de R$ 3,81\/US$ 1,00.<\/p>\n<p>Para el a\u00f1o 2018, el Grupo LATAM Airlines report\u00f3 una utilidad neta de US$181,9 millones, comparado con los US$155,3 millones del 2017, el resultado m\u00e1s alto desde la asociaci\u00f3n entre LAN y TAM en 2012, a pesar una p\u00e9rdida de US$157,7 millones por tipo de cambio y US$664 millones de aumento en los costos de combustible durante 2018.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>LATAM consolid\u00f3 a\u00fan m\u00e1s su posici\u00f3n como el grupo de aerol\u00edneas l\u00edder de Am\u00e9rica Latina y uno de los m\u00e1s grandes del mundo, transportando 69 millones de pasajeros a los cinco continentes con un factor de ocupaci\u00f3n de sus aeronaves de 83%. A lo largo del a\u00f1o, LATAM y sus afiliadas lanzaron 28 nuevas rutas que incluyen siete nuevos destinos (San Jos\u00e9 de Costa Rica, Roma, Lisboa, Boston, Las Vegas, Pisco y Tel Aviv). Esto teniendo en cuenta que el\u00a0 a\u00f1o 2018 fue un a\u00f1o dif\u00edcil para la industria a\u00e9rea de Am\u00e9rica del Sur producto del aumento en los precios del combustible, la inestabilidad pol\u00edtica antes de las elecciones presidenciales en Brasil, la volatilidad econ\u00f3mica en Argentina y la devaluaci\u00f3n de las monedas locales, lo que impact\u00f3 la demanda en viajes internacionales.<\/p>\n<p>El resultado operacional en 2018 alcanz\u00f3 US$705 millones, casi el mismo resultado logrado en 2017, a pesar del aumento de 29,7% en el costo del combustible. Los s\u00f3lidos resultados financieros de LATAM se vieron respaldados por su resiliencia, que se basa en sus iniciativas de ahorro de costos, la flexibilidad de su modelo de negocios, la red inigualable que LATAM ha desarrollado a lo largo de los a\u00f1os y su enfoque continuo en sus clientes.<\/p>\n<p>Para todo el a\u00f1o 2018, los costos operativos totales aumentaron 2.3%, impulsados por el aumento en los costos de combustible durante el a\u00f1o. Sin embargo, una de las prioridades de la Compa\u00f1\u00eda es mantener la competitividad en todos sus mercados, y en ese sentido las iniciativas de ahorro de costos han demostrado ser efectivas durante 2018, ya que el costo por ASK disminuy\u00f3 un 2.6% en comparaci\u00f3n con 2017, mientras que el costo por ASK excluyendo el combustible disminuy\u00f3 un 10.8% en el mismo per\u00edodo.<\/p>\n<p>Al final del cuarto trimestre de 2018, LATAM report\u00f3 US$1.404 millones en efectivo y equivalentes de efectivo incluyendo ciertas inversiones de alta liquidez contabilizadas como otros activos financieros corrientes. De esta manera, la liquidez de la Compa\u00f1\u00eda alcanz\u00f3 un 19,3% del ingreso de los \u00faltimos 12 meses al 31 de diciembre de 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>En 2018, LATAM tambi\u00e9n logr\u00f3 importantes avances en distintos proyectos que ayudar\u00e1n a mejorar su rendimiento en los pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os: i) una reducci\u00f3n de US$2,2 mil millones en compromisos de flota entre 2018 y 2021; ii) la intenci\u00f3n de adquirir la participaci\u00f3n minoritaria en Multiplus, que fue aprobada por la CVM en febrero de 2019 y que permiti\u00f3 a la compa\u00f1\u00eda lanzar la oferta p\u00fablica de adquisici\u00f3n de acciones; y iii) la aprobaci\u00f3n de todas las autoridades latinoamericanas relevantes para implementar los <em>joint business agreements<\/em> (JBA)
