El radar en banda C para el sat\u00e9lite Copernicus Sentinel-1C est\u00e1 ahora en camino para ser integrado en el sat\u00e9lite en las instalaciones de Thales Alenia Space en Roma, Italia, donde se llevar\u00e1 a cabo la integraci\u00f3n del sat\u00e9lite y los ensayos. El lanzamiento del sat\u00e9lite est\u00e1 previsto para el primer semestre de 2023.<\/p>\n<p>El haz de radar en banda C que produce el instrumento puede determinar cambios en la superficie terrestre con una precisi\u00f3n de unos pocos mil\u00edmetros, suministrando im\u00e1genes de forma rutinaria y sistem\u00e1tica para la vigilancia mar\u00edtima y terrestre, la respuesta a emergencias, el cambio clim\u00e1tico y la seguridad. El radar de apertura sint\u00e9tica (SAR) tiene la ventaja de funcionar en longitudes de onda que no se ven obstaculizadas por la nubosidad o la falta de iluminaci\u00f3n y puede adquirir datos sobre un lugar durante el d\u00eda o la noche en todas las condiciones meteorol\u00f3gicas. El hecho de tener un modo operativo principal sobre tierra y otro sobre mar abierto permite un funcionamiento preprogramado. Se trata de unas juntas soldadas instaladas en los principales puntos de conexi\u00f3n al sat\u00e9lite, que se funden cuando se exponen a un fuerte calentamiento y separan la antena radar de la plataforma del sat\u00e9lite. Ambas partes quedan entonces expuestas por separado a todo el calor por fricci\u00f3n durante la reentrada en la atm\u00f3sfera terrestre y se desintegran antes y m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido al final de los 7,25 a\u00f1os de vida del sat\u00e9lite.
