El proyecto denominado CO2BIO se ubica en la Orinoqu\u00eda Colombiana y abarca m\u00e1s de 200 mil hect\u00e1reas de sabana inundable. Durante los pr\u00f3ximos meses el grupo espera dar a conocer nuevas alianzas en los pa\u00edses donde opera en la regi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>CO2BIO ha sido impulsado por la Fundaci\u00f3n Cataruben y cuenta con el apoyo del Programa Riqueza Natural de la Agencia de Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional- USAID y Panthera Colombia.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cCO2BIO es el primer proyecto apoyado por LATAM para la conservaci\u00f3n y rehabilitaci\u00f3n de ecosistemas ic\u00f3nicos en Sudam\u00e9rica. A trav\u00e9s de proyectos como este avanzaremos en tres \u00e1mbitos: proteger el patrimonio natural de nuestra regi\u00f3n para las futuras generaciones, hacer frente al cambio clim\u00e1tico a trav\u00e9s de una mayor captura de CO2 y contribuir a mejorar la calidad de vida de las comunidades locales\u201d, <\/em>afirm\u00f3 Roberto Alvo, CEO del Grupo LATAM. <em>\u201cMediante este proyecto estamos dando un paso concreto para cumplir nuestra meta de compensar el 50% de las emisiones dom\u00e9sticas para el 2030 y lograr la carbono neutralidad para el 2050\u201d, <\/em>agreg\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto CO2BIO contempla actividades de conservaci\u00f3n de bosques, humedales y pastizales, adem\u00e1s de promover el desarrollo de actividades productivas sostenibles en\u00a0 los departamentos de Casanare, Vichada, Arauca y Meta.\u00a0 En la zona habitan 191 familias, las cuales son parte del proyecto de conservaci\u00f3n de las 200 mil hect\u00e1reas de sabana inundable, h\u00e1bitat de m\u00e1s de dos mil especies.<\/p>\n<p>A trav\u00e9s de las acciones de conservaci\u00f3n y rehabilitaci\u00f3n, esta iniciativa capturar\u00e1 1 mill\u00f3n de toneladas de CO2 durante el periodo 2021 &#8211; 2023, y tiene el potencial de capturar hasta 2,8 millones de toneladas adicionales para el a\u00f1o 2025, si se avanza en nuevas etapas del proyecto. Durante los pr\u00f3ximos meses, LATAM espera anunciar nuevos proyectos de conservaci\u00f3n de ecosistemas ic\u00f3nicos en Brasil, Chile, Ecuador y Per\u00fa.<\/p>\n<p>Cabe recordar que en mayo de este a\u00f1o LATAM lanz\u00f3 su estrategia de sostenibilidad en la cual el Grupo se compromete, entre otras cosas, a eliminar los pl\u00e1sticos de un solo uso para el 2023, generar cero residuos a
